Night, Laurel, Lemon

Laurel branches with blue, turquoise and ochre leaves spill from a tall brown jug into the black night, and two yellow lemons glow on a pale pink table below.

Sometimes you work better at night than during the day, because nothing bothers you. This painting is one of the series of nocturnal still lifes, 'when the night smells of laurel and lemon'. The picturesque side are the relationships between yellow and green with black.
