Spring Flowers

Purple wild gladioli and yellow spring flowers rise from a dark Georgian jug, their vivid colours set against a deep background. Expressive brushstrokes trace the curved leaves and petals, while the turquoise-blue border becomes part of the composition.

Painted in 2022, this original floral still life gives a second life to a small wooden tray handcrafted in Abruzzo, Italy, around the 1950s–1960s. Its recessed centre and raised wooden edges form a natural frame, uniting a vintage everyday object with contemporary painting.

An intimate, one-of-a-kind artwork for a kitchen, breakfast corner, or a small wall among collected objects.

Small floral still life painted in oil on a vintage wooden tray. Dark Georgian jug with wild Italian spring flowers. Purple wild gladiolus and yellow, similar to dandelions, but of a different shade, such neapolitan yellow, boccioni. This deep wooden tray was made by some nameless Abruzzo craftsman in the 50s and 60s.

DECORATIVE BOARDS (author's warning):

My works from the 'Boards' series are small oil paintings on wood, mostly still life. The boards are varnished, however these are paintings. So place them on the wall, not on the table. Best of all, given their size, on the wall of a small room. On the same kitchen wall, for example.
