White and Gold

A small Russian Orthodox church glows gold and ochre on a snowy hill, between dark woods and a bare tree, under a winter sky of lilac, blue and peach, in thick, loose strokes.

The little Russian Orthodox church on the hill surrounded by woods. Only sky and only snow around. The golden dome puts golden reflections on the sky and on the snow. A little warmth in the winter cold. The solitude of the man among the white spaces of the Russian winter.
